As reported in the Observer, Trenton Krenzer raced to a ninth-place finish and led the Fredonia/Westfield boys cross country team to second place at the Southern Tier Classic at Allegany-Limestone Central School on Saturday.
Among scoring schools, Krenzer took fifth with his time of 17:16.58, while Pietro Cabitza placed 10th and 14th overall at 17:50.57.
Fredonia/Westfield’s Meredith Lendt also cracked the top overall and 8th in team scoring at 20:51.76, and the Hillbillies finished in sixth as a team.
Fredonia Boys runners included Trenton Krenzer, Pietro Cabitza, Alexander Cramer, Jimmy Fagan, and Nathan Keefe.
Fredonia Girls runners included Meredith Lendt, Nora Robinson, Sennah Strauf, Rosemary Gugino, and Khloey Miller.

The Board of Education will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, October 7th, at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library.

Another win for FHS Boys Soccer
As reported in the Observer, Brayden Korzeniewski scored twice to lead Fredonia past Jamestown 4-1 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division I boys soccer on Thursday.
Neshawn Arif and Ryan Koopman each added a goal while Hayden Babar, Koopman, and Brady Crawford each had an assist for the Hillbillies (9-1-2, 3-1-2).
The Red & Green fell to 3-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league.


Students in PreK-6th grade and their grown-ups are invited to Literacy Night on Tuesday, October 7th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

FHS Boys Soccer with another win
As reported in the Observer, Ryan Koopman scored twice and the Fredonia boys soccer team was able to limit Southwestern for a 3-1 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division I victory on Tuesday.
Koopman first scored in the 10th minute and the ‘Billies found another from Kyle Holland assisted by Sam Pietro in the 25th. Koopman’s final goal came in the 71st minute as Neshwan Arif set him up and Fredonia (8-1-2, secured a crucial league win.
Oliver Stump scored the lone goal for Southwestern (2-7-1, 1-3-1).

FREDONIA TENNIS IMPROVES TO 12-1
As reported in the Observer, Nella Darrell-Sterbak and Charis LaBarr won their singles matches to lead Fredonia to a 4-1 non-league girls tennis win over Cassadaga Valley on Monday.
Rosie Manzella and Elizabeth Joy won at first doubles, while Amelia Way and Hazel Daly-Griffen won at second doubles for the Hillbillies (12-1).
Addisyn Grissom and Natalie Hallot earned the Cougars’ lone win at third doubles.

FYI. Paving in the village is scheduled to start this Monday at the Fire Department on Main Street/Route 20 and proceed west up the hill to the village line, heading toward Brocton. Please adjust your travel accordingly, especially for those on their way to Wheelock.

What a great Spirit Week so far! Tonight we continue the celebration with our parade, football game, and bonfire, followed by the dance tomorrow night.

Homecoming Parade Update
Due to road construction on Route 20, we’ve made some changes to keep everyone safe while still celebrating our Homecoming traditions! The parade route will now take place along Chestnut Street.

FHS Volleyball Plays Well in Win
As reported in the Observer, Londyn Wilmot had 12 kills, nine aces, and four digs to lead Fredonia to a 25-7, 25-14, 25-8 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls volleyball sweep of Dunkirk on Monday night at Fredonia High School.
Elly Saunders had eight kills, an ace, and five digs; Maddie Krakowiak had five kills; and Alyse Bugaj had an ace and 24 assists for the Hillbillies (3-4, 2-3). Congrats to our student-athletes and coaches. Nicely done!
