We appreciate all the help and cooperation from our students over the course of the year!
We will be hosting a student appreciation event outside of the High School entrance on Tuesday with our bounce house and some treats. Students and parents are welcome to stop by anytime between 4 and 7 PM. We'd love to see you there!

We’re shining the spotlight on Music!
Fredonia has been named a NAMM Best Community for Music Education for twelve consecutive years. 81% of FCSD Students K-12 were enrolled in Music Courses during the 2024-25 school year. 916 students perform in Curricular Performing Ensembles, 74% of students in grades 2-12, and 519 students are participating in Extracurricular Music Activities in grades 4-12.
The department’s program to develop and maintain an inventory of school instruments for families receiving free/reduced lunch is now in its ninth year. The number of students benefiting from school instruments continues to increase, from 20 students in 2016 to 165 students in 2024.
Music students also share their talents throughout the community:
+ Students performed at the Chautauqua Literacy Volunteers Workshop
+ Symphonic Band members performed at the Village of Fredonia’s Halloween Trunk and Treat.
+ Middle and High School Chamber Groups shared holiday music at Next Chapter Bookstore.
+ 4th Grade Hillbilly Harmonics sing throughout WNY (Chautauqua Institution, SUNY Fredonia, PTO events, Darien Lake Music Fest, and more).
+ High School Students performed at Fredonia Place.

We’re shining the spotlight on Academics!
As a National Blue Ribbon School, academic achievement is important to us. Our talented, dedicated teaching staff and robust offering of Regents and AP classes give Fredonia students opportunities above and beyond the standard education.
Our students consistently score well above the state and international averages on both Regents and AP exams.
*National Blue Ribbon Schools is the United States Department of Education’s award program honoring high-performing schools and schools that are making great strides in closing achievement gaps.

Wheelock kiddos celebrated Flag Day yesterday with a parade and many other flag-related activities.🇺🇸

We’re shining the spotlight on Hands On Learning!
High school students benefit from several units in Gym class that allow them to learn about sports and activities that they can participate in long after graduation, like kayaking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing using equipment on loan from both BOCES and FCSD staff.
Our littlest learners love Work Together Wednesdays at Wheelock! Participating in activities like picking up leaves in the outdoor classroom helps build cooperative skills, hand-eye coordination, and a sense of community.

The Board of Education will hold a regular meeting on June 17, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the High School Library.

If the revised budget doesn’t pass, our district must move to a contingent budget -- no tax levy increase, and an additional $360,000 in cuts, leading to a $492,000 total reduction to the budget.
That means:
❌ More staff cuts
❌ Fewer electives, e
❌ Community groups must pay to use school facilities
❌ Fewer athletics and extracurriculars

That 1.9% tax levy? It’s entirely dedicated to previously approved capital improvements—keeping our students and staff Warm, Safe & Dry. This includes vital infrastructure repairs, system upgrades, and two new playgrounds at Wheelock — all supported by 82.7% NYS aid.

Congratulations to Emily and Zach for being named as 2024-25 SUNY JCC College Connections Students of the Year!

We are incredibly proud of the work that our students and teachers do everyday.!

We’ve revised our 2025–26 school budget, reducing it by $166,000. The new proposal includes only the 1.9% tax levy that was approved by voters at the December Capital Project Vote, which equals about $5.25/month for the average household.
For the 14th year in a row, we remain at or below the tax cap.
