Nice work by our Varsity Football student-athletes and coaches for getting the season off to a great start with a win at the Orange Bowl on Saturday night. JV also earned a win with a last-minute TD against Akron tonight. Congrats to all!

A Message from the FCSD District Office:
Greetings Fredonia Students and Families,
We hope everyone had a great summer and welcome to the 2023-24 school year. Thanks to all who were involved in preparing for our official start with students tomorrow. We are ready to begin the new school year with our school cleaning being completed, master schedules being finalized, and fall sports in full swing.
In thinking about the beginning of the year, we are reminded that we have an outstanding group of students and families helping us achieve our mission of everyone becoming their greatest selves. We appreciate all that you do to make our school district run as smoothly as possible with everyone having the opportunity to maximize their potential.
We are proud and pleased to have a group of students and families that partner with us in our effort to provide an innovative, dynamic, and global education for all. The spirit of teamwork and togetherness makes our schools a great place to learn and grow. We anticipate an outstanding school year with these characteristics at the heart of our work over the next ten months.
Please know that your feedback is welcome at any time throughout the year. We are more than willing to discuss any questions, concerns, or ideas that might be on your mind. Feel free to reach out as needed.
Enjoy the opening of school this coming week and we look forward to working together again this year.
Respectfully,
Brad Zilliox

Attention Fredonia School Community:
We hope you are enjoying your summer.
At our BOE meeting earlier in the week, we reviewed some potential updates to our Code of Conduct. As part of our process, we are creating an opportunity for feedback from our school community. Please feel free to share information with an email or call directly to our Superintendent, Brad Zilliox, at bzilliox@fcsd.wnyric.org or call 679-1581 ext. 2701. We are open to any thoughts or perspectives you are willing to share.
You will note that most of the adjustments fall under either our dress code or electronics portions of our code. In terms of dress code, we have attempted to adjust the language to be more universal and not target one set of individuals over others. Some school districts have been accused of their codes being either sexist or discriminatory and these changes are meant to be counter to such claims. Additionally, our electronic device guidelines have become individualized to the particular school buildings based on the age of the students. The principals are responsible for informing faculty, students, and families of the guidelines for their particular building. If an electronic device is permitted, the students may not use it in such a way to violate the privacy of others. Students may not use their device to audio record, take photos, or take videos unless they are part of a school sanctioned classroom assignment.
A draft of potential changes to our Code of Conduct is linked on our website here: https://www.fredonia.wnyric.org/page/code-of-conduct
Again, thanks for any feedback you would like to share. We ask that any information be submitted before July 28.

Happy 4th of July to our #fredoniafamily!

As we wrap up another school year, we say congratulations, thank you, and farewell to an amazing group of teachers and staff who are retiring from FCSD. These individuals represent a combined 280 years of service to the district. WOW! A sincere thank you to each and every one of these members of our #fredoniafamily on their dedication and impact over the years.

Last evening, our Board of Education granted tenure to Mary Ihrig, Derek Kuch, Lindsey Moon, and Scott Herdzik. Congratulations to this exceptional group of educators! We believe tenure is earned, not given, and these individuals have certainly worked hard to make an impression on our school community in the short time they have been with us. Please join us in congratulating Mary, Derek, Lindsey, and Scott!

Our UPK students recently took a deep dive into 14 different artists from around the world. They learned about their techniques, style and life. They then created a work of their own based on that artist's unique style. Some of the artists studied were Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Frida Kahlo, George Seurat, Jackson Pollock, and Yayoi Kusama. Thanks to Mrs. Guiffreda for taking our students on a trip around the world through art!

Fredonia CSD is closed today in observance of Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans.

Happy Father's Day to all of our #fredoniafamily dads or those who are father figures to someone. Have a fantastic day!
