Tonight's Board of Education meeting has been moved to room 636, located on the second floor of the High School. If you have mobility issues and need to use the elevator, there will be a contact number on High School entrance doors to call for assistance.

Fredonia Central School District is closed today in honor of Juneteenth. On this day in 1865, all enslaved people in the United States were finally freed when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, TX, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, to enforce the freeing of all remaining slaves.

As you may know, the heat has been intense over the last few days in our schools. Please know that we have very little air conditioning in our instructional spaces and some of our room temperatures have been as high as 90 degrees either yesterday or today. With this in mind, along with safety being a top priority for our district, Thursday (June 20) will become a half day for almost all students.
Please note the following:
Our High School will run both AM and PM exams as planned.
Our Middle School will remain on the half-day schedule as planned.
Our Elementary School was originally scheduled for a full day, but will now shift to a half-day schedule.
Our Wheelock School was originally scheduled for a full day, but will now shift to a half-day schedule.
Unfortunately, the elementary field trips to the Buffalo Zoo and Midway Park will be canceled.
The field day at our Wheelock School will be condensed into the morning.
Our schedule for all schools will remain unchanged for Friday.
Both Thursday and Friday will be full days for faculty and staff.
Thanks to everyone for their help and support over the past two days. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Board of Education meeting will meet this Thursday, June 20th at 6:00 pm in the High School library.

HOST FAMILIES NEEDED
International Fellowship has linked more than 25,000 exchange students with U.S families and schools since 1952, as well as sending interested U.S. students abroad to the countries that we offer. Currently, International Fellowship is looking for two host families willing to share their homes with a high school exchange student for the 2024-2025 school year.
Miriam and Lucia are 16-year-old fraternal twins from Madrid, Spain. Both young ladies are top of their class, honor roll students, and reasonably fluent in English. They will be attending 11th grade and will each need a host family. Miriam enjoys swimming, reading, horseback riding, running/walking, playing soccer, cheerleading, singing, acting, and volunteering. Lucia enjoys playing and watching volleyball, swimming, reading books, listening to music, and outdoor activities.
If you and your family would be willing to share your home with the exchange student, or if you would like more information about the youth exchange program, please contact International Fellowship via their website at www.internationalfellowship.org, or by phone at 716-326-7277.

Today, we remember those who sacrificed so we could live in freedom.

Thank you to all of our voters who came out to the polls to exercise their right to vote. The budget passed 445 to 226. Lisa Powell Fortna and Jerry Kinney were elected to the Board of Education.
