Budget Revote
Tuesday, June 17, 2025 | 2:00-9:00 PM
FCSD High School Cafeteria
As a result of the failed budget vote on May 20th, the district will hold a revote on Tuesday, June 17th.
Two Possible Outcomes
THE 1.9% TAX LEVY INCREASE IS APPROVED
The 1.9% will be used ENTIRELY to fund Proposition #1 from our Capital Project, which was already approved by taxpayers in December. The scope of this much-needed work is designed to keep our students and adults “Warm, Safe & Dry” with repairs and/or replacement of aging infrastructure like roofing, along with our mechanical, electrical, and heating systems, as well as two new playgrounds at Wheelock.
Our District will receive aid from New York State at the rate of 82.7% for Proposition 1. This will total roughly $17 million of the $22 million project.
Eliminates two teaching positions, one High School and one Middle School.
Eliminates K-8 summer programming.
A High School summer school session will be offered for students who need to make up credits to stay on track for graduation.
A reduction of $23,800 in final New York State aid will be absorbed.
THE 1.9% TAX LEVY INCREASE IS NOT APPROVED
No further vote will take place, and state law requires our district to function on a “contingent budget” with no tax levy increase.
Reduction of $492,000 from the original budget that was initially proposed. This includes the $166,000 in reductions mentioned above, PLUS a further reduction of $326,000 from our general fund.
Elimination of an additional 3 or 4 faculty/staff positions that will result in fewer course offerings, a higher student-to-teacher ratio, reduced teaming opportunities, less intervention support, and a limit on student enrollment in elective courses.
Reductions to before and after school intramurals, athletics, and/or extracurricular activities.
No new equipment can be purchased unless directly related to our academic program or health and safety.
Rent will be charged for all community organizations using our facilities, including athletic fields.
The Budget Revote of the Fredonia Central School District will be held via in-person voting on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, between the hours of 2:00 - 9:00 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria.
A public hearing on the 2025-2026 budget revote was be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the HS library.
Absentee ballots will be mailed to all permanently disabled residents who are currently on the Board of Elections' list.
If you wish to vote by absentee ballot and are not on the Board of Elections' permanently disabled list, please contact the District Clerk to make arrangements to receive an application. Applications must be received at the office of the District Clerk by June 12th if the absentee ballot is to be mailed to the applicant, or by June 16th if the applicant plans to pick up the absentee ballot in person at the District Office. All absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk in the district office no later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote (June 17, 2025). Any ballots received after that time will not be counted.
Those receiving military ballots for the Annual Budget Vote and Election will automatically have a ballot mailed to them.
