FREDONIA, NY — Fredonia Central School District celebrated the grand opening of its two new Wheelock playgrounds with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 14, marking an exciting milestone in creating more accessible, engaging spaces for the district’s youngest learners.
The new playgrounds at Wheelock are part of Phase One of the district’s Capital Project, made possible by the community’s approval of Proposition One. The improvements reflect an investment in spaces where children can learn, explore, and grow through play.
Students and staff gathered alongside guests for the celebration, with an orange ribbon and matching playground shade canopies adding a touch of Fredonia pride to the occasion.
Playground highlights include rubberized playing surfaces, more accessible equipment, and opportunities for both imaginative and active play. The new spaces encourage children to move, discover, and build friendships while developing physical and social skills.
Fredonia Central School District sincerely thanks the community for supporting Proposition One and helping bring these improvements to life. That support is making a visible difference in the daily experiences of the district’s youngest learners.
