Fredonia High School Chamber Orchestra delivered a standout performance at Kleinhans Music Hall on Sunday, March 8, 2026, as part of a prestigious pre-concert showcase hosted by the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) and the Erie County Music Association.
Selected in October 2025 from ensembles across Western New York, the Chamber Orchestra was invited to perform in the Mary Seaton Room — an honor reserved for talented regional student groups — immediately before the BPO's evening performance. The partnership between the BPO and the Erie County Music Association creates these unique opportunities to spotlight the exceptional musical talent thriving in our community's schools.
The afternoon held an extra-special moment for students: a personal meeting with Danny Elfman, the acclaimed film composer known for iconic film scores, including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Spiderman, Good Will Hunting, and the Batman movies. Elfman graciously signed programs for the students.
The response from BPO patrons and staff was overwhelmingly positive, with many pausing to compliment the students on their artistry and professionalism. Orchestra teacher Kristen Terreri shared that “Our students represented the very best of Fredonia, and we are grateful to have had this opportunity. Patrons and BPO staff were very complimentary of our students.”
“We could not be more proud of these remarkable young musicians and the faculty who support them every step of the way,” states Superintendent Brad Zilliox. “Moments like these remind us why the arts are so central to a well-rounded education — and what our students are capable of when given the opportunity to shine. ”
