Please join us in celebrating Irish-American Heritage Month all month long! This is a great way to learn about and celebrate the Irish-Americans who contributed to our nation's history.

Two muzzles are better than one! Therapy dog Yost welcomes Millie to the district.

Fredonia Families -
I hope the week is off to a good start.
It appears that the order to boil water will continue into tomorrow.
As a result, we will:
Remain open as usual tomorrow.
Continue to not use school water for drinking.
Encourage both students and adults to bring their own bottled water tomorrow, if possible.
Continue to use the Culligan filling stations located throughout the district for drinking water.
Keep the measures above in place until we get official notification that the order has been lifted.
We appreciate everyone being as flexible as possible and not drinking any non-bottled water at any of our schools tomorrow. We will have more information for you as soon as possible.
Respectfully,
Brad Zilliox

Wheelock and our elementary school recently celebrated the 100th day of school! The day was filled with fun crafts and activities to celebrate 100 days of learning! Click here to see the fun Kindergarten activities: https://photos.app.goo.gl/2BmdtWtg92TUfcsJ7

A message from Superintendent Zilliox:
Hello Fredonia School Community-
I hope the message finds you enjoying the weekend.
You may have noticed an article in the Observer today indicating that, effective immediately, all Fredonia water customers must boil all water used for cooking and drinking. According to a state alert issued this morning, there was a disruption in the disinfection treatment, “making the water not safe to drink. Bring all water used for drinking or cooking to a rolling boil, then cool before using. You will be notified when it is no longer necessary to boil water.” For more information call the Village at 716-679-2307 or the County Health Department at 716-753-4481
After speaking with local officials, it seems this order will be in effect until Tuesday but official notice will still need to be given.
In terms of the impact of this news on our school district, here is some information to know:
All schools will be open as usual tomorrow.
For the time being, our water at school cannot be used for drinking.
For the time being, our drinking fountains will not be available.
We encourage both students and adults to bring their own bottled water tomorrow, if possible.
We will have some bottled water available at each school office for use as needed.
We have contacted a local bottled water supplier about providing additional water to our district for tomorrow.
Our school breakfast and lunch for tomorrow will not require any water to prepare and be ready for our students.
The measures above will remain in place until we get official notification that the order has been lifted.
We appreciate everyone being as flexible as possible and not drinking any non-bottled water at any of our schools tomorrow. We will have more information for you as soon as possible.
Respectfully,
Brad Zilliox

Grayson Osborne-Coy received an honorable mention at the Daemen All High Art Exhibition! There were six students selected for this Exhibition of over 75 area high school student works. We are very excited for Grayson!

Some of our middle and high school students participated in Ski Club this year at Peek n Peak. Lots of kids were able to try skiing for the first time, and they loved it!
A special thanks to the advisors, Megan Czekanski, Kristin Tomaszewski, and Liz Wronski, as well as the equipment drivers, Christine Cruz-Keefe and Christin Kingsbury, for all their hard work on making this season a success!

We are so proud of our High School Chamber Choir who performed at the Choral Festival on February 11 at SUNY Fredonia!

The Fredonia Central School District welcomes our Fredonia families to register their children for UPK and/or Kindergarten for the 2023-23 school year. Registration for pre-kindergarten children who will turn 4 years old on or before December 1, 2023 and registration for kindergarten children who will turn 5 years old on or before December 1, 2023 is currently in progress.
Kindergarten and pre-kindergarten registration are critical pieces of the school enrollment process. The pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms will continue to be held at Wheelock Early Childhood Center next year. Please call the Wheelock School office to enroll your child in either UPK or Kindergarten and request a registration packet. We plan on offering a full-day UPK program for all students next year, as well as an optional half-day am classroom.
Parents and/or guardians will need to provide us with several important items when registering their child: proof of residency such as a utility bill or rent receipt, a birth certificate or other legal evidence of your child’s age, your child’s immunization record, and the completed pre-kindergarten or kindergarten packet forms and materials.
Please contact the Wheelock Office by April 1 at 679-1581, ex 2800 to request a registration packet for either Universal Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten.

It was our pleasure to host the CCMTA (Chautauqua County Music Teachers Association) Solo Festival for the 20th time on February 4! Over 400 student musicians performed from across the county and 128 of the solos were played by our own Hillbillies. Many thanks to the 52 student assistants who volunteered at the festival as well. This festival would have not been possible without you! Congratulations to all involved.

Each year, Wheelock is excited to celebrate the Global School Play Day. This day is held every first Wednesday of February and encourages children to simply...play! Research has shown that there is a positive relationship between unstructured play and children's mental health. We believe that it is important that students can be kids and play!

Meet our latest addition to the therapy dog family - Millie!
Millie is a labradoodle from Cherry Creek, NY, and her owner is Kayla Sullivan, a Speech Pathologist here at FCSD. She has had Millie since she was 8 weeks old, and she has grown up an avid Bills fan!
When not helping our students and staff, Millie enjoys taking long walks through the village of Fredonia. She loves watching birds and squirrels, car rides to Frosty Treat, swimming in Grandma & Grandpa’s pool, and “helping” Kayla garden by digging in the mud.
Millie trained to be a therapy dog with Kaleigh Olson of Shaylah’s Canine Commands in Forestville. She has her basic obedience certificate, passed her American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen test, and completed all the requirements to acquire her Therapy Dog Certification. She will spend time in our first and second grade classrooms.
Welcome, Millie!

Happy Valentine's Day from FCSD...enjoy a little something sweet today! 💖
