Study Guide Strategy

To make a study guide:

·Starting with the first page, enter the page number in the first column.
·Then ask a question that you could answer from the reading material on this page. This should also be a question that you anticipate could be on a quiz or test. Write this question in column two.
·Write your answer to the question in column three. Continue asking questions about this page until you feel that all-important materials are covered.
·Go on to the next page.

Page Number Question Answer
12 Who were the 2 opponents in the US Civil War?  The North and the South

·When you have completed your study guide questions, ask a partner the questions you have written down. Also have your partner ask you his or her questions. This will help both of you learn this material. If no partner is available, cover your answers and quiz yourself.
·After the test, compare the study guide you made with the test. How well did you anticipate the questions and kinds of information covered on your test? How might you improve your study guide on the next test?
